Conceptual product design:
Conceptual design is a simplified design process intended to "flesh out" multiple design concepts to the point where they can be evaluated objectively. The concept that survives the evaluation process is subjected to a detailed engineering design in preparation for production.

Engineering Analysis: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Kinematics Analysis and other Engineering techniques are key to optimizing mechanical design.
